Slovakia is a calm Schengen country in the heart of Europe with a low cost of living. There is no standalone «digital nomad visa» here at all: the Act on the residence of foreigners (404/2011 Coll.) sets out a closed list of grounds, and remote work is not among them. Two routes actually work: self-employment — a Slovak sole trader licence (živnosť) with a 3-year status — and employment with a Slovak employer. We select the route for your situation; filing is from Moscow, through a Slovak consulate. We manage the entire journey: from documents to the residence card.

Requirements in 2026
- The živnosť route: the law asks not for monthly income but for balances on accounts — €3,542.64 on your personal account (12× the subsistence minimum) and €5,904.40 on a separate account for the business itself (20×). The subsistence minimum is €295.22/month from 1 July 2026, and the figures are revised every July.
- The employment route: the law sets no separate financial threshold — you need a job offer and confirmation of the vacancy from the labour office.
- International passport, criminal record certificate, health insurance, and an address in Slovakia; supporting documents must be no older than 90 days. We support you on every item.

The legal basis is Act No. 404/2011 Coll. on the residence of foreigners; the amounts are multiples of the subsistence minimum (Opatrenie MPSVR SR No. 155/2026 Coll.). The official texts are published in the Zbierka zákonov (slov-lex). Applications go to a Slovak consulate or to the foreign police department, and the authority decides. - Does Slovakia have a standalone digital nomad visa? There is no separate «nomad visa» in Slovakia — remote professionals legalize their status through a national visa or residence permit. We select the working route for your income profile during a free assessment.
- Do I need to travel to Slovakia? The filing is organized from Moscow. Personal presence may be required at certain stages — we'll notify you in advance and prepare you for every step.
- How long is the decision? 90 days from a complete filing for self-employment and 60 days for employment (§ 33 of Act 404/2011); 30 days for an innovative project and a few preferential cases.
